COVID-19 Travel Recommendations

CDC recommends that people should delay travelling until they are fully vaccinated. This is because travelling increases your chances of spreading the virus. However, if you are not fully vaccinated and you must travel, make sure you follow the recommendations laid out by CDC for unvaccinated people. It’s expected that these recommendations will be updated as more people become vaccinated or as the rates of COVID-19 change and also if more scientific evidence is available.

Domestic Travel Recommendations For Fully Vaccinated People

Have you been fully vaccinated with a vaccine that is fully authorized by the FDA? Or have you been vaccinated using the vaccine authorized by WHO for emergency use? If yes, you are allowed to travel safely within the US. However, you need to take the following steps to protect other people as you travel. Turtle Islands.

During Travel

• Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth. You need to wear a mask on planes, trains, buses and any other forms of public transportation when travelling in the US or out of the country. You must also wear a mask in the US transportation hubs such as stations and airports.

• Avoid crowds and always stay at least 6ft or 3 meters from anyone who isn’t travelling with you.

• Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.

After Travel

• You must monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms. Self-isolate and make sure you get another test if you develop symptoms.

• Follow the state and local recommendations or requirements.

• You don’t need to get tested or isolate if you are fully vaccinated or recently recovered from COVID-19 in the last 3 months. Make sure you follow all the other travel recommendations.

Domestic Travel Recommendations For Unvaccinated People

Before Travel

• Get a viral test at least 1-3 days before your trip.

When Travelling

• Wear a mask to cover your nose and mouth. It should be worn on buses, planes, trains and any other forms of public transportation when travelling anywhere in the US or out of the country. Make sure you are wearing the mask when at stations or airports.

• Avoid crowds and stay at least 6ft or 2 meters from anyone you are not travelling with.

• Wash your hands often or you can use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.

After You Travel

• Get a viral test 3-5 days after travelling. Stay at home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travelling. Even if your test is negative, you should quarantine for 7 days. If you have tested positve, you need to self-isolate to protect other people. If you are not tested stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travelling.

• Don’t go near people who have an increased risk for severe illness for 14 days whether or not you are tested.

• Monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms, isolate and get tested if you notice any symptoms.

• Follow the state and local requirements and recommendations.
